Cyprus Holiday Guide

For centuries a link between Europe and the Middle East, Cyprus is now a cultural and maritime crossroads of the Mediterranean, where Orthodox domes and minarets compete for attention. The pace in Northern Cyprus is slower than in the south and well-tended vineyards, citrus orchards, and olive groves dominate the countryside. Medieval castles sit on mountain peaks, Byzantine basilicas, amphitheatres and abandoned Venetian forts lie in ruin, and the Muslim call to prayer is a familiar sound in the towns and villages in this part of Cyprus.

In southern Cyprus you’ll find a perfect climate and some of the Mediterranean’s best beaches. The resort towns of the southern coast include Ayia Napa and Limassol, the island’s party capitals, and their polar opposites, the quiet towns of Coral Bay and Protaras, popular Cyprus villa holiday destinations for families. The nearby harbour town of Paphos has its quota of luxury resorts, and is close to a beautiful coastline as well as less-developed countryside. The ruins of Amathus are impressive, and you can visit pretty villages tucked away in the Troodos Mountains, off the beaten track. Holiday villas in Paphos are another popular Cyprus holiday choice.
